Marieke Berghuis


Marieke specializes in privacy, e-commerce, copyright law and contracts. Marieke enjoys delving into complex legal issues and drafting effective pieces.

Marieke studied Dutch Law (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam. Marieke was admitted to the bar in 2003 and again in 2017. She has been working with the Brandeis-team for many years. Prior to her work as an attorney, she worked as a researcher at the Institute for Information Law (University of Amsterdam).

Recent work:
  • Advising corporations and organizations about the use of personal data, often part of complex data protection compliance trajectories;
  • Co-drafting pleadings and other documents on copyright law on e-books;
  • Advising retailers, marketing agencies and publishers on e-commerce issues;
  • Providing workshops on privacy issues.
